Towards Conscious Spending

Thursday, August 13, 2009

I recently wrote a blog entry in Finnish about conscious spending. By spending consciously people are aware of what they do with their money. It can mean also saving money, but a more important dimension is that people can improve their quality of life by making right decisions on where and how to spend.

My writing this blog post was no accident. Idean is currently working with Balancion, a company aiming to support conscious spending with a cool web application. Important features of Balancion’s service are: to utilize interfaces of appropriate service providers (esp. banks and loyalty customer programs); to categorize the expences into separate classes (like gasoline and food); and to provide this information via an intuitive user interface. I like this idea. Apparently I am not the only one, since my post generated some buzz in Tietoviikko’s discussion area.
