Is mobile marketing finally taking off?

Mobile marketing has been one of the top picks for the next big things for a decade. The business seems to be finally gaining momentum – slowly, but surely.

Idean’s Senior Market Analysis Manager Kalle Snellman presented the results of a recent pilot study by Ficom. The study tracked the advertising on Finland’s top 3 operators’ mobile portals for one month. With a total of 12 different advertisers, the portals gathered 400 000 unique visitors and 1.6 million ad views.

According to Kalle Snellman, the technology and the users are ready – the push to the next level should come from the marketing agencies and their clients. Agencies should invest in developing their competence and starting to think outside the traditional banners: mobile video is in the horizon as well.
