Fastems is a supplier of flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) and robot cells for the metal cutting industry.

Electrical cabins with dozens of switches are now history: we’ve centralized these components into one place on a SW tool display.
Memberplanet is an established startup offering exhaustive online tools for group management.
When they came to us, Memberplanet had an existing web service with extremely powerful tools for group management, such as homepage creation, form building, payment handling, fundraising, event creation, and email campaigns. Such a variety of complex functionality within a single service is a tough challenge for the end-users, who manage groups ranging from 2 to 1,000,000 members.
Based on user-research and client requests, we set out to simplify the existing service by creating a unified interaction model for the core functionalities, as well as concepting a new feed-page where group administrators can track all activity within their group. We also created a new visual style for the service, making it unique and fresh.
Through our work, Memberplanet became much easier to approach for the user, yet it still retains all of the powerful functionalities that the group managers find valuable.

Engineering group in tooling, materials technology, mining and construction
Sandvik is an engineering group in tooling, materials technology, mining and construction.
One of our goals as a company is to design products that are innovative and energy efficient. A brilliant example of this is our industrial client Sandvik, who needed the user interface designed on their crusher, Vibrocone. The project began in Tampere, Finland, where Idean had already worked with Sandvik in platform level UI style development. Sandvik had experienced the benefits that we had delivered to them on previous projects and knew that our newest contributions and user centric working methods would again be a valuable asset in the design process.
The mining industry consumes about 5% of the world’s electrical energy. With its revolutionary technology the Vibrocone reduces energy usage up to 30%, thus making a huge contribution to the environment. We are proud of the part that we played in such an important product.
FIM is a Finnish provider of investment services.
FIM wanted us to redesign their web service with the goals of making investing easier for their private customers and highlighting their active and transparent investing philosophy.
Thanks to FIM’s open attitude and solid groundwork, we were able to design a service that underscored their above-mentioned goals. In the visual layout, we left the figurative grey banking world and instead brought vivid colors, friskiness and a modern e-commerce style to the service’s look and feel.

In co-operation with Mehiläinen and end-users, we designed a web service aimed at their private and occupational health care customers. Through the service, users can access and manage their personal health information.
The service now has over 30,000 happy users in Finland and has received excellent feedback. It has also remarkably increased the interaction between Mehiläinen and its customers, as well as encouraged its users to focus more on their health.
Ilta-Sanomat is Finland’s largest quality tabloid published by Sanoma News, the leading multi-channel media company in Finland.
Ilta-Sanomat needed ideas and visions for its tablet strategy and road map in early 2010, prior to iPad’s release in the Finnish market. Idean provided two videos where potential interaction models, visual looks, different advertising alternatives and payment models were examined.
In addition, we provided a presentation on the key trends, device base forecasts and strategic issues in the Finnish tablet market.
TV, mobile, tablet
“Future television concept”
The initial concept from the client was to provide a fresh interactive approach towards TV viewing for users. Our task was to innovatively approach the concept idea and then create a UI design to match it.
In essence, we needed to create a smooth experience that worked seamlessly on various platforms, including TV sets, tablets and mobile devices.
Upon completion of the project, Idean successfully designed a future television concept for our customer, Tieto.
Project management services and software
Dovre Group is a global provider of management services.
We redesigned Dovre Group’s web service with the end goal of making it especially attractive to large-project industry personnel, i.e. specialized engineers and project managers, who are extremely sought after. In this project, responsive design provided a solution to their existing need, as the service is often used on mobile or tablet devices rather than on computer screens.
Their web service is now fresh, easier to understand and stands out amongst its competitors.

Personal finance management
Balancion is a pioneer in online personal finance management, which was originally released in 2009.
Balancion’s bold concept was to create a tool for personal finance management that was visually appealing, safe and user friendly. Idean managed the service design from user insight and UX concept design to the strategy and a major part of the UI development.
The design development was carried out in close co-operation with the Balancion’s management team. The input from the service customers was kept central in the service development process.
We utilized up-to-date customer feedback as the starting point for our agile design process in this project.
Content activation platform
Kiosked is currently one of the hottest startups in Finland. The company provides a content activation platform that turns any online content, images, videos and applications into interactive and viral storefronts.
The founders of Kiosked turned to Idean for our expertise in UI design. Our assignment was to create a visually appealing design in a user friendly way.
The starting point was to hide the service's complexity from its users. This was done by studying carefully the concept idea and by keeping the focus on customer perspective in the design process.
In addition to the user interface Idean provided design guidelines and the icon library for the service.
Teosto is a Finnish copyright society for composers.
We redesigned the concept and the visual appearance of Teosto’s new web service. The service now looks fresh and modern. Its structure is divided into three segments according to its user groups.
Less is more in this case as the number of pages was reduced to only six from the former 50+ pages… without any information deleted in the process. If that is not magic, then what is?
Interior solution designer and supplier
Martela designs and supplies interior solutions for working environments and public spaces. It is the largest company in its sector in Finland and one of the three largest in the Nordic countries.
Before the renewal, Martela’s website was dated, didn’t follow a linear thread and lacked consistency in its hierarchy and structure. Our challenge was to design a highly efficient site with a top-notch user experience. We updated the style and created a style guide to support future development. The modular block elements that were incorporated now offer the user relevant content and create a consistent look and feel.
The feedback from their customers has been excellent and Martela conveyed how pleased they were with our working methods and techniques.
We think that we achieved a modern, user friendly and consistent service that builds into Martela’s renowned brand.

The customer feedback has been excellent and it is amazing to see that without any major market campaigning, customers have still discovered the application available in the App Store.
The application has now been launched in six countries. Also the in-store kiosk with touch, mouse and iPad setups have expanded nation wide in Finland.
