Elisa Virtual Desktop

Basics

Our aim in this project was to design excellent customer experience for Elisa Virtual Desktop; a cloud computing service. The design decisions made in the project were all based on Idean’s long history in human centric design, product specification documentation and on technical requirement specs delivered by Elisa’s software partners. At the beginning there was a vision which was clarified with graphical UI illustrations and then with (X)html implementation.

This project focused in UI design (concept, interaction and visual) and example template creation, UI documentation and copywriting. The final outcome will be tested among the real end-users. In practice this meant that for desktop UI lay out pictures, wireframes, (X)html templates and Flash demo illustrating the designed Wow experience were delivered, but the actual integration work was not in Idean’s responsibility. The purpose of this project was to design and define (documentation) the first version of the Elisa Virtual Desktop UI concept.

Challenge

The challenge was to create a Wow experience in the highly competitive area and integrate our novel and disruptive UI to Citrix back end. This was done in order to reach seamless desktop system like experience in Web browser.

Actions

Idean followed the following phases to complete the project. It should be highlighted that almost all of these phases were conducted parallel. Customer iteration was an essential part of the phases. These phases were integrated to implementation partner’s agile methods. This way it was possible to get something visible at the end of every week.
