Idean is a global design studio, operating in the realms of design, technology and business. At about 90 here in London, we’re a curious and caring mix of thinkers, makers and doers. We believe that companies need to transform their business of today while building their business of tomorrow. We create products, services and Beta Businesses from scratch as well as transforming things that already exist from the ground up. Idean is a part of Capgemini Invent, and some of our projects are joint efforts with our extended family and some are Idean solo teams.

More about this role
This role is multi-faceted, combining client leadership and relationship management, new business, strategic project oversight and driving thought leadership. In addition to this, alongside the rest of our Principal team, you will also drive our offer and approach along with marketing and brand building activities.
You’ll be given the room to grow your role and us
The landscape is always changing and you will be at the forefront of this, identifying client challenges early and spotting industry trends. You will be able to bring this all together to further refine our offer, approach and position in the market, which we think is kinda nice.
You’ll drive our senior clients relationships and be a friend to their business
We’re trying to push our complete offer and you will champion this and become a trusted advisor to our most senior clients (C-Suite and senior sponsors within large organisations). You will deliver high-value strategic advisory and consulting, to help and grow our existing clients and to find new ones.
As part of establishing our credibility with clients, you will create and drive early engagement work that will ideally lead onto larger of programmes of work or further pure consulting work as part of a portfolio approach for our clients.
You can drive things forward on your own, but will be supported by the wider business
It’s fine if your expertise and experience sits within some phases and areas and not completely end to end (we’re of the belief that unicorns don’t exist), but you will be able to speak to our offer end to end. There will always be cross-practice support from people with different backgrounds to drive the best output possible and learn along the way.
You must be comfortable with the ambiguity and challenge that creating these environments for new ways of working within corporate organisations presents. You will be a key influencer of this approach and you may need to guide our clients through the process.
You’re comfortable with targets and billing
You will be comfortable owning a revenue target and your level of client billability. You will be responsible for sustaining approx 25-30% client utilisation for yourself, along with a seven figure revenue target.
While you will own these targets, you will have the support of the wider team. We have a Pod model within the London studio, which organises our senior practitioners into teams to support on new business, client growth and project delivery. We also have a Strategy & Growth team, which is responsible for landing new opportunities, and a Marketing team that coordinates the creation of great content. We believe everyone has a role to play in business development and growth, so you won’t be alone in your mission to drive client growth.
You’ll strengthen our relationship with the wider group
Our extended family includes global Idean studios and the local Capgemini team, primarily the Invent arm of the business. We partner with Capgemini on projects and doing great work with them rests on building the right relationships within the business. We will only partner with a small number of people within the organisation and we have done a good job since we merged of finding some of these right partners, which has already opened up some great opportunities for us (we have a number of combined project teams in flight, along with Idean only teams). This effort continues and you will play an important role in building relationships with market and client leads.
You’ll get to go home on time
We wish we didn’t have to call this one out, but we do. Working hard does not mean working late and we have always championed for smart working and going home on time - it’s a big part of our culture. We believe this to be important to allow people to bring their best selves to their work and teams.

Lead and challenge clients
If we don’t challenge our clients, no-one will. We need to advise, provoke and guide them. We need to help them understand what is required to really succeed in this ever changing landscape and the implications for their broader business, and then guide them through it step by step. You will be a trusted advisor to some of our most senior clients and will be comfortable and experienced in this position.
Advance our thinking
We’re looking for someone who can take our existing positioning and thinking and improve it to create something that blends your experience and industry best practice with our own smart thinking and experience. You will lead the initial strategy for client engagements and growth and you will also play a role in inspiring our team to push it further.
Build our name in industry and sectors
Our ongoing success will only be possible if we continue to build a stellar team. Creating a renowned brand in our industry is key to this. Principals should, through their own activities and encouraging the broader team, develop thought leadership content and talks to showcase our perspective and work.

What to expect from our application process
Standard stuff, really. First, we'll take a look at your application and you’ll hear from us within a couple of weeks. If you look like a possible fit for the role, then we’ll invite you to have a chat, in-person or on the phone. After that, there will be at least three interviews, perhaps with a task. There are no robots screening CVs here, so we apologise if it takes a little longer than expected.
