The Austin studio, which launched during South by Southwest in 2014, works across industries, providing strong research, design, and development capabilities. Our team in Austin has delivered award-winning work in the high-tech semiconductor industry as well as enterprise and consumer products and applications. Additionally, we have been instrumental in growing Idean’s capabilities in augmented, virtual, and mixed reality. Our team here is particularly tight-knit. We love happy hours, but also have a full bar in the office, have an affinity for Topo Chico (Mexican mineral water), and happen to have a local Pan-Asian place called Koriente on speed dial. More importantly, tacos are within walking distance in every direction of the studio.
The architecture and design of the 6th Street studio leverage the ethos of Auburn University’s Rural Studio program—a program that emphasizes adaptive reuse techniques and the use of natural construction materials. And the space is incredibly cozy. A vintage fireplace has been the setting for more than one late-night s’mores competition, and the custom lighting fixtures offer a soft glow that illuminates community tables. There’s no doubt that the Austin space is one of the most creative, collaboratively designed spaces among Idean studios.
